Robin Miller Senior Advisor & Chair of Investments Committee

Joined in 2007 (associated with IFM Investors since 1999)

Robin is a member of IFM Investors’ Leadership Team, Risk Committee and Chair of the Investments Committee. Gaining his original qualifications as a Mining Engineer in 1975, Robin later returned to university to conduct research for his PhD in rock mechanics, which was awarded in 1981. In 1986 he switched careers into banking, commencing as a project finance analyst, but moving on to a variety of corporate lending and risk management roles within the National Australia Bank (“NAB”). This included two years as a senior head office credit officer approving large project finance and infrastructure loans. In 1998 he was invited to move across to National Asset Management (“NAM”), a funds management subsidiary of the NAB, in order to take credit investment skills into their fixed interest team. While at NAM, Robin commenced managing debt investments on behalf of IFM Investors’ diversified pure credit fund, the Alternative Fixed Income Fund, from its inception in 1999. Despite changing employers since then, this key role moved with him and has continued without break to this day. In 2005, he joined ME Bank to expand its funds management capability, later moving to IFM Investors, where he was Global Head of Debt Investments until June 2016. Robin’s career has covered many facets of corporate lending and project finance, as well as other aspects of risk management and the credit approval process. His move to funds management was in advance of the mainstream adoption of credit as an Australian asset class. He has been closely involved with the evolution of infrastructure debt as a special sub-set of the credit risk asset class.
