IFM Investors today announced the appointment of Mr. David Whiteley to the newly-established role Global Head, External Relations to lead the firm’s public policy agenda internationally.

IFM Investors Chief Executive Mr. Brett Himbury said: “We are delighted to attract an executive of Mr. Whiteley’s standing whose stewardship and advocacy on behalf of ISA has resulted in the establishment of one of the most high-performing peak financial services bodies in the country, delivering exceptional policy outcomes for everyday working Australians.”

As a member of IFM Investors’ executive team, reporting to Mr. Himbury, Mr. Whiteley will have global responsibility for the firm’s relationships with government, media, shareholders and industry groups. Central to the role will be an emphasis on directing IFM Investors’ global responsible investment initiatives and its focus on enhancing returns, as well the societies in which we invest.

“In recent years, IFM Investors has gone from a well-regarded Australian institution to a globally respected institutional funds manager. Mr. Whiteley’s appointment will further enhance our global point of difference in terms of how and where we invest and importantly our unique form of worker’s capital,” Mr Himbury said.

“We aspire to be the world’s most trusted institutional funds manager, with a differentiated investor-owned model, and a culture which allows us to focus on maximising investor returns and harnessing the benefits of scale.

“Mr. Whiteley’s track record of championing strong public policy outcomes for Australia’s industry fund investors will contribute to IFM Investors’ capacity to act as responsible long-term stewards, investing in economic and intellectual capital. This will allow the firm to build and deliver scale to meet the global needs of our institutional investor base, but also serve to expand IFM Investors’ global presence and ultimately the people and communities we seek to serve,” he said.

Mr. Whiteley has worked in financial, commercial and industrial roles in Australia and the United Kingdom and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) and Masters of Commerce. He will commence in the role on 1 September 2018.
