IFM has been measuring and reporting annually on the carbon footprint of our infrastructure assets since 2017, when we reported on the 2016 emissions of our Australian and global ex-Australia portfolios. We report on the total scope 1 and 2 emissions and IFM’s financed emissions for the majority of assets in both portfolios. Measuring financed emissions helps us to understand our portfolios’ impact on climate change, manage key risks and determine opportunities for improvement, in line with our target of reducing total absolute emissions across our investment portfolios to net zero by 2050.

This report provides an update of the carbon footprint of our global ex-Australia infrastructure portfolio companies for the year ending 31 December 2019.

IFM’s global ex-Australia infrastructure portfolio is a diversified portfolio of core infrastructure assets, including water services, ports, midstream / terminal assets, toll roads, airports and telecommunications. Our consideration of environmental, social and governance factors is embedded in our long-term ownership and stewardship of these portfolio companies.
