IFM has been measuring and reporting annually on the carbon footprint of our infrastructure assets since 2017, when we first reported on the 2016 emissions of our Australian and global ex-Australia portfolios.

We report on the total scope 1 and 2 emissions and IFM’s financed emissions for the majority of assets in both portfolios. Measuring financed emissions helps us to understand our portfolios’ impact on climate change, manage key risks and determine decarbonisation opportunities, in line with our target of reducing total absolute emissions across our investment portfolios to net zero by 2050.

This report provides an update on the carbon footprint of our Australian infrastructure portfolio companies for the year ending 30 June 2020.

IFM’s Australian infrastructure portfolio is a diversified portfolio of core infrastructure assets, including airports, toll roads, ports and electricity supply assets. Our consideration of environmental, social and governance factors is embedded in our long-term ownership and stewardship of these portfolio companies.
